Formerly, Mithuna was with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP where her practice focused on federal tax controversy and tax planning for multinational corporations, with an emphasis on transfer pricing, tax treaty interpretation, and related international taxation issues.

Prior to Skadden, she was with EY where she concentrated on planning, documentation, audit defense, and competent authority relief through the treaty network to help resolve double taxation and other related disputes.

Mithuna holds a JD from Emory University School of Law, and an BSFS in International Political Economy from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Mithuna is a an attorney licensed in New York and California.

Thanga Ramalingam has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector on large scale NextGen digital transformation, finance transformation, risk management, data management, cloud transformation and cognitive automation.

Thanga specializes in large scale finance transformation and integrated risk/finance solutions to modernize and optimize business functions by leveraging cutting-edge tools and technologies.

Thanga has led and successfully delivered many data and analytical solutions that have fundamentally shifted the way the organizations treat their data assets to harness and create strategic and differentiating experiences for their customers, as well as driving sustainable business growth.

Thanga earned a MS in computer applications from Anna University, Chennai India.

Anthony Irwin oversees all accounting and external reporting at Lemonade including SEC reporting, compliance, tax, treasury, financial systems, and management reporting. Anthony’s expertise is in IPOs, acquisitions, funding rounds, and challenges that require turning ambiguity into clear, actionable solutions.

Formerly, Anthony helped Shutterstock grow globally, streamlining operations, integrating acquisitions, and building tools that gave leadership better decisions faster.

Anthony believes that “finance works best when it looks forward, not just reporting on what happened but shaping what happens next”.

Anthony was awarded a BS in business administration from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Jeremiah German has more than 11 years of professional tax experience serving financial services clients, with a core focus on insurance companies. He has experience with M&A advisory on both the buy and sell side including post-merger integration.

Jeremiah has led complex engagements to transform tax operating models, including transitioning in-house tax functions to outsourced staffing approaches. Through these efforts, he has helped multiple companies modernize tax process, accelerate tax compliance obligations, streamline provision reporting, and enhance overall operating effectiveness. He has led both AICPA and SEC audits for domestic and international companies.

Jeremiah earned a BS in accounting, summa cum laude, as well as a Gold Medal of Excellence: Accounting from Sacred Heart University. He was also awarded an MS in accounting with honors from Sacred Heart University.

Eric McGann is an Audit and Assurance Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Financial Services practice with more than 12 years of experience serving public and private clients. He specializes in the insurance sector, leading audit engagements for publicly traded global insurance brokerage organizations and public and private property and casualty insurers. Eric is known for his client-focused approach, strong cross-functional leadership, and ability to build and develop high-performing teams.

Over the course of his career, Eric has led global teams through complex audit and accounting matters, including SEC filings, SOX compliance, carve-out transactions, discontinued operations, goodwill impairment, significant acquisitions, and remediation of material weaknesses in internal control. He also brings specialized experience in auditing actuarially determined insurance reserves and alternative investments.

Eric earned a BS in accounting and international business from Villanova University. He is a Licensed CPA in the state of Pennsylvania, with memberships in the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.

Julia Paromchik has 16 years of internal and external audit experience with a focus on insurance. In her current role, Julia focuses on overseeing operational audits over QBE’s key business lines and functions to deliver audit reports and findings to executive management and the board of directors.

Prior to joining QBE, she worked within the assurance and audit function at Deloitte delivering financial audits with a focus on Sarbanes Oxley compliance and SEC regulations across large publicly traded companies within the US financial services industry.

Julia was awarded an MBA in accountancy from the University of South Florida; she is a CPA in the states of Florida and New York and a certified fraud examiner. Julia is a member of the SIFM President’s Advisory Council, Chair of the Outreach & Membership Growth Committee, and on the Steering Committee of the Women of SIFM.

Christopher Mora has over 25 years of experience in accounting and finance. He specializes in the delivery of capital market readiness and financial reporting to clients across several industries including fintech, financial services, life sciences, health/wellness, telecommunications, private equity, real estate, and construction. He regularly advises clients on the accounting treatment of various transactions, including complex debt/equity transactions, business combinations, reverse mergers, revenue recognition, lease accounting and various SEC related issues.

Chris earned a BS in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. He was awarded a certificate from the General Management Program from Wharton Executive Education.

Chris is a CPA licensed in Pennsylvania, and is a member of the AICPA and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Elaine Lehnert has over 30 years of experience in forensic accounting, internal controls evaluation, technical accounting and auditing matters. She advises on financial reporting issues specific to insurance and reinsurance companies and has served as a consulting and/or testifying expert on various matters involving insurance (both property casualty and life and health) and reinsurance companies. In addition, she performs assessments of internal control over financial reporting based on the criteria established in the COSO framework and/or plans of remediation across multiple industries, including in connection with forensic accounting investigations and FCPA monitorships.

Prior to joining Ankura, Elaine was a managing director in the forensic and litigation services practice at FTI Consulting and a managing director at Veris Consulting. Formerly, Elaine was with the AICPA as a technical manager with responsibility for assisting and managing the activities of the Insurance Companies Committee and its task forces, relations with Actuaries Committee, and various Accounting Standards Executive Committee task forces. She was also responsible for the development of the audit and accounting guides for insurance companies and was involved in other GAAP standard-setting activities.

Elaine earned a BS and an MBA in accounting from Rider University. She is a CPA and is certified in financial forensics from the AICPA and CIMA. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the SIFM and the Steering Committee of the Women of SIFM group.

Yelena La Forgia has over 20 years of substantial experience in the insurance industry in various finance, transformation and audit roles. Yelena was most recently responsible for leading the US entities and the insurance segment, shaping organizational vision and strategy across finance, while partnering with the business to provide strategic guidance and drive business efficiencies and profitable growth for Aspen Insurance at Sompo International.

Prior to Aspen, Yelena spent nearly eight years at WR Berkley where she was CFO of Berkley’s Product Recall and Small Business companies. Yelena also held various finance and audit positions of increasing responsibility at Liberty International Underwriters and AIG.

Yelena earned a BBA in accounting from Baruch College. She is a CPA licensed in New York. Yelena is the immediate Past-President of the SIFM. Yelena is a member of Chief, a women’s executive leadership organization.

Russell Sommers has more than 17 years of experience in serving insurance companies through an array of projects, including internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley and NAIC Model Audit Rule, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, internal controls advisory, IT audit, enterprise risk management, vendor risk management, and SOC reporting.

Russ co-leads Baker Tilly’s IT examination practice performing IT examinations of covered insurance companies on behalf of state departments of insurance. Additionally, he leads Baker Tilly’s digital asset practice. Russ has consulted on exchange traded cryptocurrency funds, national securities exchanges, financial services information services companies, digital assets companies, and digital services technology platforms.

Russ earned a BS in accounting from Ramapo College of New Jersey. He is a CPA licensed in New Jersey. Russ is a certified information systems auditor by the ISACA. He is President of the SIFM and is a member of the Board of Directors. He is Chair of the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors.
