Gary Berger has over 25 years of insurance tax experience and is part of the Grant Thornton US insurance tax leadership team.

Gary has significant experience in the taxation of global and US domiciled companies, as well as closely held corporations, focusing on tax consulting, tax planning, as well as assistance in tax provisions and compliance. Gary has authored several insurance tax thought leadership insights on various topics and presented at tax forums and executive events.

Gary’s experience in industry includes large publicly traded corporations, privately-held business enterprises in the financial services and insurance industry. Gary has experience in the tax compliance area and in the preparation and reviewing of statutory and GAAP financial provisions including addressing the related accounting issues.

Gary earned an BS in accounting from Touro University and an MBA with a concentration in taxation from Baruch College, Ziklind School of Business. Gary is a CPA licensed in New York. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the SIFM.
