With more than four decades at the forefront of corporate taxation, John Forni has built a distinguished career guiding both U.S. and multinational financial services organizations through the complexities of an ever-evolving tax landscape. As Head of Tax for Zurich North America, a leading global insurance company, John brings a rare combination of strategic vision, technical expertise, and executive leadership to one of the industry’s most demanding disciplines.

Throughout a career defined by innovation and impact, John has led complex multinational tax organizations across every facet of the function, including tax operations, financial reporting, compliance, controversy, internal controls, tax planning, restructuring, transfer pricing, and tax technology transformation. Known for translating intricate tax challenges into business opportunities, John has helped shape and execute domestic and international tax strategies that drive value while supporting long-term growth.

Before joining Zurich North America, John served as the national leader of Grant Thornton’s insurance tax practice, where he advised some of the industry’s most prominent organizations. Earlier in his career, John was a partner in the business advisory consulting practice of a Philadelphia-based accounting and consulting firm and held senior tax leadership roles at globally recognized institutions including AIG/Chartis, Merrill Lynch, UBS Warburg, and Bear Stearns.

John earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA with a concentration in Taxation from St. John’s University. A Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York, John is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, SIFM, Federal Bar, and ITC.
