James Knight has over 20 years of experience helping global insurers solve complex finance and actuarial challenges, driven by disruption from artificial intelligence, regulatory change, technology and cost pressures.

His experience includes actuarial modeling and governance, financial reporting under US GAAP and Solvency II, capital modeling, AI strategy and enterprise-scale adoption, operating model design, and building and leading global teams. James directs actuarial modeling, governance and technical advisory across MetLife’s global actuarial organization, and has embedded AI into the monthly work of MetLife’s Finance function worldwide — a growing portfolio of scaled solutions that is reducing cycle times and freeing capacity for higher-value analysis.

Earlier in his career, James was EMEA Chief Actuary, overseeing actuarial teams across 25 countries and $15 billion in assets, serving on the EMEA Finance Leadership team and on the board of MetLife Reinsurance of Bermuda.

James earned a First-Class master’s degree in mathematics from Durham University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (US), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (UK).
