Mouri – Chairman, Audit & Advisory Committee, United Nations Office for Project Services
Naohiro Mouri has over 35 years of experience in internal auditing serving in various chief audit executive positions for AIG Asia Pacific, JP Morgan Asia, Shinsei Bank, Morgan Stanley Japan, and Deutsche Bank Japan. He is also the chairman of the International Internal Audit Standards Board (IIASB) of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Until recently, Mouri-san was the executive vice president and chief auditor at AIG. He began his auditing career at Arthur Andersen in Atlanta and Tokyo and has worked in various countries such as the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.
Mouri-san has advocated for internal audit professionals and served as chairman of the global board of directors (2018-2019) and various officer positions at the IIA. He has also been the director for IIA Japan since 2003 and served as president of the Asia confederation of the IIA (2001 to 2006). Mouri-san has received numerous awards for his contributions to the internal audit profession; he was selected for the Outstanding 50 Asian American Business Award in 2024.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mouri-san has co-authored a book on internal auditing for financial institutions and has lectured at various universities, industry, and academic forums. He holds a BS in accounting from Georgia State University and has completed the MetLife Enterprise Leadership Program at Harvard Business School. Mouri-san is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.
