Lessons Learned Investigating Cybersecurity Events and Preparing for a Cybersecurity Exam

Register now to hear this two-part session on cybersecurity with Baker Tilly’s Bernard Regan and Russ Sommers presenting on Tuesday and Phil Schmoyer and Russ Sommers presenting on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, you will hear how in today’s continually evolving threat landscape, cybersecurity attacks are becoming increasingly more sophisticated and effective.  Despite maintaining a comprehensive cybersecurity program and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, cybersecurity events still occur. This session will discuss commonalities amongst successful attacks, the tenets of an effective incident response process and what can be done to today to prepare for the event we hope never comes.

With the New York State Department of Financial Services regulations in full effect, and several other states adopting the NAIC’s Insurance Data Security Model Act, the window for becoming compliant has closed.  Soon, covered entities will be tasked with evidencing their compliance with the new cybersecurity regulations to a team of state examiners.  This Wednesday session will help participants understand what examiners will be looking for, illustrating how a covered entity meets the requirements of the regulation, as well as, some common pitfalls in compliance.
